Chub rub on inner thighs and skin chafing – What are the causes and what helps to heal the skin?
Terrible pain, burning, itching and watery blisters. If you already had these symptoms, then you will know exactly what we are talking about. If the inside of the thighs rub against each other, then sore and a painful skin rash occur. This can occur also on other body parts, as for example under the breasts, the belly or in the crotch area. Men often have these problems at the edges of their underwear (in the testicular area). This is more than just a nuisance. It can be very painful and cause a very sensitive inflammation. Small children or babies can also develop a skin rash (diaper, panties edge, etc.). We want to explain why a sore skin is created and above all what you can do about it. There are some causes for sore and irritated skin areas, to better understand some of these, it is interesting to know how the skin works and what role your sweat plays in it.
Our miraculous skin
The skin is an organ. In reality the largest organ of the human body. Over 15% of the human body weight is skin. You have to imagine the skin as a „three-story house”. Each floor has a different job. The epidermis (skin) is the visible part. This surface is very sensitive and is only 0.03 to 0.05 millimeters thick. It serves as an extreme protective sheath. A „floor” underneath lies the dermis. Many important functions take place at this level. Here are the hair follicles, sebum and sweat glands and smaller blood vessels that make the skin look beautifully bright and healthy. Deeper, beneath this layer, is the so called sub cutis (subcutaneous skin area). This serves as a base for the other two layers and has a even larger amount of blood vessels. Here are also very important nerve cells and nerve endings, which forward pressure and other sensations to the brain.
Since the outermost layer of the skin is so thin, there is a need for special protection. This is given by the so-called lipids. These are natural fats, which mean moisture and health for the skin. If they dry out, or have a disorder, the skin can become dry and small microscopic cracks start to appear. The natural lubrication of the skin can be destroyed by too many showers, the sun or other environmental influences (like chemicals, air pollution, etc.). Then there is a tendency to dry skin and this can be brittle and cracked. The skin needs essential vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin C, and vitamin E. In addition to this, a healthy skin needs also a good fluid intake.
Sweat is a segregation that is expelled through the skin. The main function of perspiration is to cool the skin. This body fluid is actually odorless. The human body begins to sweat to cool itself. The more you train, the more the body sweats and also the sooner the body starts to sweat. A human can produce up to 2 litres of perspiration per hour. This fluid evaporates on the skin and through this process, the upper layer of the skin is cooled. One advantage of sweat is that it actually only consists of water (almost 99%), but there are also other chemicals, that play an important role. Various combinations of salt are contained in sweat and other substances as well. These can vary and depend a lot on nutrition and genetics. In sweat we can find sodium ions, chloride ions, potassium ions and even urea, amino acids, ammonia, sugar and some lactic acid with cholesterol. Fatty acids are also contained in sweat and they decompose on the skin, when the sweat comes out. The decomposition of these main chemical components leads to the production of butyric acid or formic acid. This is the “typical smell of sweat” which is in the air. Usually sweat is odorless and would only have a salty taste. The substances in sweat have still an important function, but they should not get back into the bloodstream or into the sensitive skin structure, which is full of nerve endings. There, these substances can cause an irritation, which can lead to inflammation.
Why should I know all this?
With this small digression into the world of biology, we just wanted to show you, why painful sore skin areas may occur and how you can deal with them. The horrible burning, itching and irritation often comes from the salt and the acids in sweat, who run into the small wounds (cracks) and cause this terrible pain. These fluids were expelled by the body and have no reason to be under the top layer of the skin. There they cause inflammation. This can be seen through the redness and swelling. Also through the watery blisters that cause an awful burn.
If you know what is going on, then you can better prepare to protect yourself. Whoever already has a chafed thigh or a sore sweat rash or redness and chafing under the breasts, will now know that the sweat „must be turned off“first. During the healing process you should be sweating as little as possible! You should wear comfortable, loose clothing and synthetic substances only if they are also really sweat-resistant. It also helps to often change clothes, especially in the summer heat.
What causes the reddening and the sore?
Dry skin is caused by the constant rubbing. The skin is literally „grounded” and with that small wounds appear, that in due time are getting bigger. Initially we have mentioned, how thin the top layer of the skin really is. Especially athletes, marathon runners or Joggers, have this problem, because they repeat the same mechanical movement for many hours on end. The chance to get chafing is higher for this group of people. But even obese people often have this problem. Here the two thigh press against each other and create yet additional pressure.
The friction does not only occur through the touch of skin on skin. It also happens that textiles, their seams and other clothing parts constantly scrub at the same place and create chafing. For this reason, we mentioned the biological details, so that you can better understand why your skin resists and becomes irritated. First of all, one must treat the sores and in the next step, you must protect yourself against it, so that these problems do not recur.
Final protection against chafing, friction and irritated skin
The best protection is always preventative. There is a very good and effective remedy. The substances that are contained in the Vevina ® unguent, act like a protective film on the skin. They work like an additional barrier that protects against skin, textiles and other things. Instead of irritating the skin, these substances work in a natural way and do not react with the substances in sweat. They also do not create any contrary reactions or allergies. Many people place oil, Vaseline, powder or other home remedies on the sores. This, however, is not advisable, as it can cause more – unpleasant – side effects as a result.
Just order a tube of skin soothening Vevina ® Cream and start protecting sensitive areas today. The Vevina ® Cream acts as a protective and comfortable „second skin“ and is especially important during warm weather in the spring and summer. There are no unwanted side effects and this gives you an all-round protection, for which your skin will be grateful. You can order the tube on our Web page.
